An inspirational midwife who delivered babies in Kings Langley for more than 30 years has been recognised by the parish council.
Kings Langley Parish Council (KLPC) has installed a plaque in Green Park in honour of Lynne Webb.
After a generation of service, delivering babies and taking care of new mothers, Lynne decided to move to Suffolk in 2001, where she still lives today.
At the time, mums in Kings Langley decided to mark her contribution to the village by planting an oak tree in Green Park with a commemorative plaque.
KLPC granted permission for the tree and the plaque. Almost immediately, the oak tree was vandalised and uprooted, but the group of grateful mums arranged for another a replacement.
Unfortunately, the plaque recently disappeared, and KLPC was asked by one of the mums if they would pay for its replacement. KLPC duly obliged.
Councillor Alan Johnson said: “Now, of course, many of the mums are grandmothers and their children have children of their own.
“However, Lynne hasn’t been forgotten by the many grateful mums and dads who treasured her kindness and consideration.”
