Garston-based Everett Rovers are working alongside the Football Foundation and Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) to build a state-of-the-art artificial football pitch.
The floodlit 3G pitch is proposed for Leggatts Playing Fields and will be primarily utilised as a training facility. The club’s current training sites are scattered across six locations, and the proposed Astroturf would provide a stable, quality facility for use by the various branches of the club.
Planning permission is currently being sought.
Everett Rover’s treasurer Wayne Frost said: “We’ve been working towards this for more than a year. The project costs £850,000. We have to contribute £200,000 and the remaining £650,000 will come from the Football Foundation and HCC.
“The final decision on approving the plans will come at the end of October. We have to have all the funds ready by then.”
The club are £25,000 short of their target so have set up a JustGiving page and are calling on the community to contribute.
