A new full-sized floodlit 3G football pitch opened at Kings Langley School on Friday, September 20.
For years, the school has provided space for local community provisions. But poor-quality grass, regular waterlogging, and lack of floodlights caused frequent disruptions.
Now, thanks to a range of grants and donations, including £708,711 from the Football Foundation, the new facility has given the community access to high-quality grassroots sports facilities.
The site will enable the school to deliver a Football Development Programme which will support clubs to increase the number of female teams they operate and help to establish a female pathway.
Clubs will also be able to create more opportunities for players with disabilities and collectively provide pan-disability football at junior, youth and senior level.
Steve Maker, head of football development and investment at Hertfordshire FA, said: ‘’Football sits at the heart of so many of our communities, bringing people together and delivering real benefits to mental and physical health.
“We look forward to the opening of a high-quality facility in Kings Langley, that will help unlock even more opportunities for local people to get involved in football, be active and provide opportunities to support the students and local communities’ health and wellbeing.”
