Last year may have knocked him back, but Corrie Mustafa isn’t staying down. The boxer, whose family live in Kings Langley, is back in the ring hungrier than ever.
Speaking to BUSHEYnews, Corrie said: “I need more experience, so that is what this year is about. It’s going to be constant. I am hoping to do a fight a month and am working harder.”
Corrie credits his coach Vasile, sparring partner Anton, and his gym Jab Boxing in Bushey for keeping him on track. He said: “Vasile pushes me and wants me to succeed. He wants me to do well.”
Sponsored by Herbert from Resilient Physio, Corrie combines training with therapy and recovery, ensuring his body and mind are ready for the grind.
While his focus now is on gaining experience, his message has stayed the same. He said: “Boxing is medicine and advocating for mental health is important to me.
“There is a sense of responsibility that works hand in hand with the effort that I am putting in.”
He has been taking part in podcasts and community projects, making sure his experiences and mission reach as many people as possible.
Reflecting on last year’s losses, Corrie shared: “I am taking back my loses from people at the start of next year. There are things in the pipeline, and I need wins to unlock certain doors.”
Discipline has become routine, he added: “I am motivated, disciplined, it is routine now – it’s day to day. I won’t fizzle out because it is part of who I am right now.”
Corrie’s next fight is at Hertfordshire Combat Centre on Saturday, February 28.
