FLORAL TRIBUTES: Amersham school makes beautiful poppy display for Remembrance Day

Published on: 16th November 2023   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

Staff and pupils at an Amersham school recently worked together to make a beautiful display of poppies for last weekend’s Remembrance commemorations.

The Beacon School created 3,000 individual flowers for the artwork, which is now proudly draped over the school’s entrance on Amersham Road.

Next to the display is also a QR code that links to the school’s ongoing fundraiser for the Royal British Legion (RBL).

The idea came from the school’s head of art, Miss Michelle Jackson, who came up with the display as a way to commemorate this country’s war dead as part of Remembrance Day.

Headteacher Mr Nick Baker said: “A huge thank you to all our Beacon community for contributing to produce and fit such a powerful poppy display; it looks fantastic! A special mention to Michelle Jackson, our head of art, for her creative genius and vision.”

To donate to the school’s ongoing RBL fundraiser, visit their GoFundMe. You can also view an Instagram Reel of them creating the artwork here.
