Harrow Council has accelerated measures to tackle anti-social and dangerous firework use around Hallowe’en and Guy Fawkes Night.
From Thursday, October 24 until Sunday, November 10, Harrow Council implemented extra evening patrols by its Public Protection Team (PPT) in hotspot areas.
A dedicated phone line has also been set up so that residents can report anti-social firework use immediately. The number is 020 4604 2775. Once reported, officers will assess reports to determine whether a response is needed.
An online map will allow residents to highlight areas where fireworks have been misused, including locations that have caused problems in previous years. To report via the online map, visit the council’s MyHarrow Talk website here: www.talk.harrow.gov.uk/fireworks
Ahead of the firework season, council officers visited homes in Pinner and Stanmore to talk about firework safety.
Harrow Council reminded residents that fireworks being used safely and legally in private gardens cannot be stopped simply because they are noisy.
Life-threatening or property-damaging firework use should be immediately reported to 999.
