‘FINDING SOLUTIONS’: Praise as bus route changes reduces impact of cuts in Radlett

Published on: 14th August 2025   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Uncategorized

Council transport teams have been praised after they were successful in reducing the impact of a soon-to-be scrapped bus service that serves Radlett.

The decision to remove the 601 Welwyn Garden City to Borehamwood service, that serves Radlett, from August 31 was met with concerns and criticism.

However, ahead of the service being removed Hertfordshire County Council have been able to work with bus operators to change the routes of other services to ensure the route from Welwyn Garden City through Radlett to Borehamwood continues to be server.

ClIr Caroline Clapper praised HCC’s transport teams. She said: “Their commitment to finding solutions that protect our communities has been exceptional.

“I know how much this will mean to many residents, and I’ll continue to monitor the rollout and ensure residents are kept informed.”

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire County Council said: “We have a good relationship with local bus operators through the Intalink Enhanced Partnership and we’re pleased that we’ve been able to work together to provide alternative bus services for the areas that the 601 bus currently serves from September.”

No replacement bus from borehamwood to Welwyn garden city college. Pathetic council cuts preventing students getting to college. That’s Hertfordshire county council all over

The new 361/362 bus only goes as far as St. Albans, this means a change of bus for many who wanted to get into W.G.C. and double fares and also extra time on the journey changing buses
