Campaigners fighting proposals for a massive freight terminal on the former Radlett airfield have produced a video illustrating the size and scope of the project.
Councillor Terrie Smith, one of the leaders of the Save St Albans: Fight the Freight campaign, explained: “By using a drone to fly over the area, we can show exactly how much valuable green belt land will be lost. And by using computer-generated images, we can show the size of the warehouses that have been proposed – one of which would be the size of Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport.”
The short film was produced by local filmmaker Kevin Gardam. It includes interviews with campaigners, experts and residents who talk about the potential impact on local traffic, the environment and on people who live alongside the site.
The campaign group also staffed a stall at the Odyssey Cinema last month followinig a screening of the film to rally community support.
“There’s been lots of interest,” said Sally Fishleigh, one of the campaigners. “The film is making a big difference.”
