Hawkyns by Atul Kochhar hosted a get-together at their Amersham restaurant to “raise a toast to happy Diwali” on Thursday, October 17.
Diwali is the Hindu festival of light and is the religion’s most important event of the year.
Speaking to AMERSHAMnews, owner Atul Kochhar said: “It is all about community; it’s all about family. So I thought why not invite local friends who live around us and local businesses as well and raise a toast to happy Diwali?
“The meaning of Diwali is to bring in light to your life and warding the darkness away and making your life happier. Be with your loved ones, be with your community, and that’s exactly what I wanted to do.
“We have been in this beautiful town for almost eight years now and every year it has been my quest to know more and more people and be a part of the community.”
In attendance at the event were members of the local community, including Buckinghamshire Council chairman councillor Mimi Harker OBE and Mayor of Amersham councillor Dominic Pinkney.
