FATHER PLEADS GUILTY TO MANSLAUGHTER

Rebecca Thomson, 11, was killed last July

  A father who strangled his 11-year-old daughter before crashing his car in a suicide attempt, today pleaded guilty to manslaughter. Simon Thompson, 52, killed his only child Rebecca and then drove his VW Golf into a roundabout at high speed. He pleaded not guilty to murder and his plea of guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility was accepted by the prosecution at St Albans Crown Court. More to follow.
