A family run firm of solicitors from Pinner is now practising its profession in one of the village’s most historic buildings. EM Collins & Co moved from their old premises on the corner of the High Street to Wakefield House – the former home of legendary artist and inventor Heath Robinson. The move on Monday February 23 was inspired by the company’s growth and its aim to be at the heart of the community in more ways than one. Aisling Collins, who took over from her mother Mary who founded the practice in 1984, explained why the move was made. The mother of two, said: “We’ve being doing really well over the past few years and have outgrown our old offices. When I heard that Wakefield House was available I was really excited. “It is in the centre of the High Street, is steeped in history and will mean we can continue to grow and keep looking after even more clients. Importantly for me the extra space means we can begin to develop free workshops and seminars to benefit our clients, the local community and other local businesses. “Our business has been built with the support of clients and colleagues in this area and this is our way of saying thanks and giving something back.” The firm specialises in Family Law and Family Mediation, Wills and Trusts, Probate, and all other related areas. It has a small, dedicated team of experts headed up by Aisling. Getting the project completed was a challenging labour of love for Aisling. She said: “As it was a very old building a lot of refurbishment was needed. It was pretty stressful juggling the building works, running the practice and most importantly my family life but somehow we’ve managed it.” Heath Robinson was famous for his drawings of absurdly complicated inventions which achieved remarkably simple results. Some of his finest illustrations were drawn during his time at Wakefield House. Call E M Collins on 020 8866 1820.
