Eastcote Horticultural Society (EHS) welcomed the arrival of the new season last month with their annual Autumn Show.
Taking place at Eastcote Community Centre on Saturday, September 7, the event featured a marvellous menagerie of beautiful blooms and vibrant vegetables, as well as cake and tea.
Sue Alexander, chair of the show committee, said: “The exhibits were stunning, despite the usual grumbles about the weather the gardeners have faced this year. [There were] some beautiful blooms and a range of vegetables.
“Thanks to a team of helpers from our sponsor, Robert Cooper Estate Agents, and our volunteers who all arrived by 8am, the show set-up was complete in record time.”
At the end of the show, the EHS committee came together to give prizes in the various categories, which included fruit, flowers, vegetables, home produce, photography, and handicrafts.
Highlights included Pamela Cooper winning the Crane Cup for the Best Apple Exhibit, Alan Thomas claiming the St Vincents Cup for the highest points in the vegetables category, and Laura Dumitrasc winning two prizes for her fantastic dahlias.
The Friends of Eastcote Gardens saw the most success, claiming the EHS Gold Diplomas for the highest points in the apple category and the highest points scored in the other flowers category. They also won the Tingay Cup in the fruit category.
EHS are now looking ahead to their Spring Show, which is set to take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
