For 100 years, the sound of bowls clacking on the green has echoed throughout Kings Langley, but this year those familiar sounds have been joined by laughter and celebration for the club’s centenary.
Two members, Tom and Luke, won the Bowls England Foundation Pairs Area Final on Wednesday, July 2. They went on to beat a pair from Bounds Green on Wednesday, July 16, meaning they are through to the last 16 of the competition.
Sunday, July 13, marked a special occasion for the club as members came together to celebrate their 100th President’s Day. Fun games were enjoyed before the bowlers tucked into some cakes.
On Tuesday, July 15, bowlers swapped the green pitches of the village for a boat deck to take part in a centenary match against the Bohemian Bowls Club on Fry’s Island.
The club shared: “We enjoyed a warm welcome and fabulous afternoon of bowls.”
In August, the club are also getting a special visit from the Chelsea Pensioners, who are retired British Army veterans who live at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London, for a head-to-head match.
