Three music societies from across the area are teaming up for an upcoming concert to perform the acclaimed oratorio of Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn, Elijah.
Northwood Choral Society will be performing the vocals, with four from the choir also taking solo roles. They are John Upperton (tenor), Laurence Williams (bass), Scarlett Brett (contralto) and the group’s musical director, Julie Bale (soprano)
Joining them will be the Harrow Philharmonic Society, the Trinity Orchestra and conductor John Wyatt who will be providing the musical backdrop to the piece, which as an oratorio combines the three components of choir, soloists and orchestra to tell a musical story.
Mendelssohn’s Elijah, telling the tale of the Biblical prophet, has been a perennially popular piece for performers since its debut in 1846.
The concert will be taking place at Harrow High School on Gayton Road in Harrow, starting at 7:30pm on Saturday, March 26.
Tickets will cost £15 for adults, £12 for concessions and will be free of charge for those under the age of 19. Tickets can be booked through calling 07947 024156, through Eventbrite, on the website www.northwoodchoralsociety.com or on the door by cash or card.
