A Northwood school played host to political figure Gordon Brown last month as he celebrated the release of his new book. Organised by Chorleywood Bookshop, the event at Merchant Taylors’ School was a chance to hear the former Prime Minister talk about his book My Life, Our Times and some stories during his time at 10 Downing Street. The November 13 event was sold out and the evening began with fascinating stories from Mr Brown’s time in government and a summary of today’s current political predicament. He discussed his remarkable 40 years on the political frontline and shared an insight into what he predicts is to come. When the floor opened to questions from the audience, everyone was given a fascinating insight into the life of a Prime Minister and what may lie ahead for the UK. A spokesperson from Chorleywood Bookshop said: “Riveting and highly personal, this historic memoir is an invaluable insight into our times.” My Life, Our Times reflects candidly on Mr Brown’s extraordinary career; from New Labour’s 1997 landslide electoral victory to the 2008 global financial crisis and the historic 2014 Scottish and 2016 European Referendums. All proceeds from the book are going to the Jennifer Brown Research Laboratory and Theirworld children’s charity.
