ETHICAL SHOPPING: Zero-waste refill shop in Ruislip hoping to bring change to buyers’ habits

Published on: 27th July 2025   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Uncategorized

The brains behind Ruislip’s first zero-waste refill shop are hoping to build an eco-friendly community.

Friends Laura and Natalie, who bonded over their love for running and finding sustainable alternatives to everyday products, decided to join forces to create the area’s very first zero-waste store.

Expected to open in October, Refill Your Cup will provide an alternative shopping experience where visitors can buy food without waste in an affordable and sustainable way.

From candles to dried goods to a nut butter machine, the store has community at its heart and will focus on selling locally sourced and created products.

The duo are hoping to prove that shopping without waste can be a convenient, affordable way for each person to adapt their buying habits to make a positive impact on the environment.

But the pair are aiming to be more than another shop on the high street.

Hoping to help individuals connect with their community, the pair plan to hold various activities, including starting a running club, hosting ethical talks, and even sharing recipes and top tips for cooking sustainably.

Speaking to Northwood & Ruislip News, Laura said: “It really is about investing and connecting with people and helping them to make a small change that can have a big impact.”

Natalie added: “I have a young family and the amount of recycling and waste we go through is quite frankly obscene. We want to help bring change to the consumer, but not in the average way. We want to make ethical shopping convenient while driving focus on the community.”
