St John’s Infant and Nursery School in Radlett managed to raise nearly £4,000 from events in their first term, including a virtual gig which had nearly 100 people tune in.
Martin Collins, a Radlett resident and DJ/presenter on Smooth Radio hosted the night and were asking people to donate via text or on an online fundraising page.
Over the course of the gig, which lasted 90 minutes, the school raised £1,000, and even had a Radlett takeaway, Akash, as their food sponsor.
People were encouraged to order a curry from Akash on the night of the gig and to tell them that they were part of St John’s, with the restaurant then agreeing to donate 25 per cent of the revenue from all those orders.
The money raised is very important to the school and will go towards helping them replace some old technology such as laptops, iPads and interactive whiteboards, as well as ensuring children from all backgrounds are able to access the online learning during lockdown.
