EPIC CHALLENGE: Inspirational Bushey man raises £4,000 for the NHS completing triple marathon

A man from Bushey completed an epic three marathons in one day to raise £4,000 for the NHS.

Inspirational Daniel Bourne who is a personal trainer at Rebourne Health and fitness completed the 26.2 mile distance three times over on a sweltering day on July 18.

He covered the 26.2mile distance at running, cycling and on a SkiErg machine that you’d ordinarily find in a gym. Daniel had plenty of support as he took on the gruelling challenge with over 200 people in the local community turning up.

To further reinforce the sense of community around the day several local businesses set up stalls and helped fundraise.

Daniel’s day started with an early morning run around Bushey where he completed four laps of around 10k before taking on the SkiErg machine. Once that was wrapped up he was on the saddle for the cycle challenge that took him around St Albans.

Daniel, who is no stranger to epic challenges having previously completed the London Marathon and cycled to Monaco, told BUSHEYNews he was overwhelmed with the support he received.

He said: “The whole day was just brilliant and one I will never forget. It was a real rollercoaster and when I come in to finish, I was so emotional and overwhelmed. Everyone together and cheering me on just got to me.

“The original plan was to do them in a different order but I had so many people ready and wanting to run with me, that I didn’t want to have to make them wait to get going.

“It also worked out better as it meant the run was done when it was cooler as it was a really hot day.

“I am so grateful for the support and to have raised around £4,000 is amazing. Im already planning my next challenge.”

Daniel has already got his eyes fixed on his next challenge as he is due to climb Mount Kilimanjaro next year.
