Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 are now available to help fund up to a third of the cost of many different energy saving measures such as insulation, LED lighting, energy efficient boilers, air-source heat pumps and electric vehicles.

Low Carbon Workspaces helps small to medium sized enterprises in Hertfordshire identify energy reduction opportunities and subsidises the cost of energy efficiency solutions.

The programme has already supported 10 businesses in Watford including a recent grant for LED Lighting at the Pump House Theatre.

The application process is quick and easy, and their dedicated Project Officer will guide businesses through the process, advising them on how to tackle energy consumption, helping to identify suitable projects for funding and providing support to businesses struggling to take their first step towards sustainable practices.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor said “We are facing a climate emergency and it’s vital that we take action at all levels to make our world more sustainable.

“I want to help support local businesses improve their energy efficiency, which will save them money and reduce carbon emissions.

“These have been tough times for our local businesses and I want to do all we can to help support them to get back on their feet. These grants will mean that they can save them money on their energy bills, make our air cleaner and help protect our environment for the future.”
