ENERGY SAVER: Warm Hub opens in Radlett to help tackle cost-of-living crisis

Published on: 15th November 2022   |   By: Megan Milstead   |   Category: Uncategorized

Aldenham War Memorial Hall has set up their new ‘Warm Hub’ to help residents keep their energy bills down.

Every alternate Wednesday between 10.30am to 12.30pm, locals are invited to meet at the hall in Letchmore Health to switch off their heating for a few hours.

The first meeting took place on November 2.

Attendees can sit and chat, play games or just read the paper.

The Warm Hub is free of charge, but small donations are welcome.

If you have any questions about the hub, you can contact Aldenham War Memorial Hall at aldenhamwarmemorialhall@gmail.com

A survey commissioned by the Liberal Democrats revealed that 23 per cent of adults will not turn on their heating this winter due to the rising cost of energy.

This figure was 27 per cent for people who lived with children at home.

Energy bills increased by 6.5 per cent in October for 22 million homes across the UK.

The rise in energy bills affects 79 per cent of households. Over the next 12 months, three-bed homes can expect to pay £2,100 with the government’s two-year energy price guarantee and cost-of-living support package.

Hertsmere-based charity Sebby’s Corner has put out a cost-of-living crisis appeal to help support families who are struggling.

The charity has seen a 130 per cent increase in referrals in the last three months.
