Croxley’s Muay Thai boxing superstar Ellie Harber is continuing her journey to success, after being selected for the first time as an adult to represent England.
Ellie has been selected to take part in the WBC Amazing Muay Thai Festival world championships, which is being held from February 2 to 5 in the home of Muay Thai, Thailand.
Last year, Ellie represented England in Venice, where she smashed her opponent and earned herself gold. She hopes to replicate this win in Thailand, which she will travel to after her exams.
Ellie said: “I recognise that I am extremely privileged to be selected for my country. Whilst my training schedule may seem hard, it is necessary to put myself in the best position to win. I love what I do, as it is fun as well”.
Ellie’s training schedule will mean that she will wake first thing in the morning, run and train, study at college, train again, study some more and then head to bed. This is a schedule that is repeated 6 days a week.
She said: “My strength and conditioning coach, Katie, ensures that my strength and fitness is at its optimum level, whilst I am lucky to have both Christian and Lyndon as my striking and technical coaches. I am looking forward to the tournament. I know it will be a big step up for me, but I will ensure I am ready.”
Ellie is still looking for local sponsors to help her on her journey as Muay Thai is a self-funded sport. If you want to support a local, young athlete then please contact her via her Instagram and callum@athletemedia.co.uk
