ELLA DAVE: Heartbroken daughters offer tribute to the first woman to wear a sari in Ricky

Published on: 12th August 2024   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Nisha and Bella Dave offer a heartfelt tribute to their late mother, Ella Dave, who worked at Dave Pharmacy on Moneyhill Parade for more than 40 years and touched the lives of many people in Rickmansworth.

This article is written for the many customers, patients and friends, as well as for the community of Rickmansworth and Croxley Green, who came to know Ella Dave through her life’s work in the service of others. We have been overwhelmed by the response of the community to Ella’s death in May this year. We would like to express our thanks and gratitude for the many cards and wonderful messages of appreciation.

Ella came to Rickmansworth as a young bride in the 70s and she quickly became a well-known figure in the local community. She was recognisable as the first lady in Rickmansworth to wear a sari. She worked in the pharmacy for more than 40 years. The family will continue to run the pharmacy.

Selfless and kind-hearted, she always helped people and always put others first. In the snow and ice, she would frequently deliver food parcels to the elderly. If they came in and it was raining, she would go and get their shopping from the local shop, so older people would not spend so long outside getting cold. She was an unsung community hero.

She will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched. Her loss will make a large hole in this tightly knit community. We would like to thank the many kind friends for their help, support, words of comfort, and gifts of plants and flowers.
