Electric Umbrella will change the way you think

Published on: 12th July 2019   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Talk to anyone about Electric Umbrella and you’ll notice there is something about them that literally lights up!

Whether they are performing in schools, pubs or festivals, Electric Umbrella pour the feel-good factor into every member on stage so that it spills out into the audience, leaving EVERYONE standing that bit taller & smiling that bit broader.

On July 18, Electric Umbrella are back at Watford Palace Theatre for their one-off show A Night At The Palace, bringing their message of togetherness into the spotlight.

It’s a show that will inspire young and old to change the way they think about adults with learning disabilities.

With music at its heart, the night will be packed with hits from pop to opera, from Queen to Ed Sheeran. It will have you laughing, crying and dancing in the aisles.

Also making a welcome appearance will be the Big Yellow Choir, a community choir built over the last year rehearsing weekly at Breakspeare School Abbots Langley.

It’s a choir with a huge difference which welcomes everyone with and without disabilities and works to encourage community, meaningful social interaction, better mental health while fighting social isolation.

To celebrate their third Birthday Electric Umbrella launched an instrument amnesty calling for any unused instruments to be donated their way.  Recently their team created the proto-type Beat-Mobile, an adapted instrument created out of a set of donated drum synth pads, totally adjustable to attach to a wheelchair and suit any user’s level of ability and mobility.

Founder Mel Boda said: “At Electric Umbrella we have built a charity around our belief in creating ‘extraordinary adjustments’ to ensure our members can play and experience music alongside our professional band and feel the buzz of packed audience and a crowd shouting for more!”
