EGG-CELLENT: Chairman dresses as Easter Bunny for popular event in Bushey

Published on: 15th April 2024   |   By: Annabel Stock   |   Category: Uncategorized

The Chairman of Reveley Lodge in Bushey Heath was dressed as the Easter Bunny for a very popular children’s Grand Easter Egg Hunt.

Granville Taylor, Chairman of Reveley Trustees, and many volunteers were on duty as people began arriving early. Some 400 children and adults attended to hunt for eggs around the garden and take part in other activities.

While older children were encouraged to run round the garden and hunt for eggs, an enclosure was erected for the toddlers to find their own.

Granville, dressed as the Easter Bunny, and his brother built a huge, decorated egg which was large enough for children to climb into. £1300 was raised to support the maintenance of Reveley Lodge, given to the people of Bushey 20 years ago in the will of its last inhabitant Eila Chewett widow of local artist Albert Ranney Chewett. Speaking to BUSHEYnews, Granville said:

“The upkeep is a constant struggle. Maintenance of the house and the beautiful gardens costs huge amounts and we have no official funding. The Friends of Reveley help out with membership, but events are important as well.’

Upcoming ones include Jazz on the Lawn, a summer supper evening and a quiz night.
