A cock-a-doodle-doo may sound like a charming way to wake up in the morning, but Garston residents appear divided over an unexpected early alarm call.
A resident posted: “Anyone know who’s recently got a cockerel near Garston Park? It has been waking us up at various times since Christmas, particularly frustrating at 4.30am.”
Other residents were quick to share their experiences of the unusual wake-up call, with one person saying: “We hear it too. We thought we were imagining it at first.”
Cockerels are known to crow at dawn as a natural response to daylight, using the sound to mark territory and signal the start of the day.
However, some early risers said it seemed like “a lovely way to wake up in the morning”.
One resident added: “We used to be woken by a cockerel at 5.30am every morning. I loved it. My partner was not so keen on being woken, so I bought him some earplugs and they worked a treat.”
