Hertsmere Borough Council (HBC) and Hertfordshire County Council are continuing to help Afghani refugees settle into the area.
The councils have already held local collections for clothes, phones, laptops, tablets and other necessities, and are now looking to keep their new residents warm for the winter.
HBC councillor Natalie Susman told RADLETTnews: “Curry’s, whose head office is in Herts, donated over a hundred tablets, which means that the children can embark fully on their education programme, which are largely online.
“The next mission is a little more challenging, in that we now need winter coats. Taking into account that we need coats for men, women and children of all sizes, it is harder to make approaches to corporates.
“If anyone is able to help us secure any batches of coats from suppliers, or has access to any that may be seconds or end of lines, this really would be amazing.”
