It’s been over a year since the passing of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who lived to the age of 99, spending 69 of those years as the consort to his wife, Queen Elizabeth II.
This month’s photo features a visit from him to Chorleywood taken on December 15, 1958, seven years into his time as consort. He can be seen here examining a sponge cake, produced from the confectionary baking department at Chorleywood Lodge.
The Duke can clearly be seen enjoy the aroma of the newly baked treat.
Do you have any memories of Prince Philip’s visit? Or perhaps you have other old pictures of Chorleywood that could feature on this website. If so, please feel free to send them over to us at newsdesk@mynewsmag.co.uk and they could be in the next issue!
