This month’s historic photo shows Ruislip London Underground station as it was in 1994.
The station was constructed in 1904 as part of the Metropolitan Railway Company’s new extension line between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Uxbridge, being the only stop between the two stations. It opened on July 4 that same year.
Since then, multiple types of trains have been added to the line. First came steam trains, followed by diesel engines, before the introduction of electric trains.
In 2000, the building was given Grade II listed status by English Heritage in recognition of its historic importance.
