Watford-born director Martyn Knight is bringing a show close to his heart back to his hometown stage.
Cassio Productions is set to dazzle audiences with Priscilla Queen of the Desert at Watford Palace Theatre from May 12 to 16.
For Martyn, this production is more than just a musical: it’s personal.
Martyn said: “This will be my fourth production of Priscilla, and it’s a show dear to my heart. I lived out my teenage years in the 1970s and witnessed the prejudice and discrimination against the LGBTQ community.”
The vibrant jukebox musical follows three performers — two drag queens and a transgender woman — as they travel across Australia, finding strength through friendship.
Asked what audiences can expect, Martyn said: “It has a real feel-good factor with spectacular numbers, costumes and comedy. It also carries an important message of resilience and friendship.”
