Diane Abbot gives boost to Labour’s candidate for Watford

Labour front-bencher Diane Abbot MP, Shadow Home Secretary was in Watford on Saturday to give her support to Labour’s local election campaign.

Pictured above with Jagtar Singh Dhindsa, Labour’s mayoral candidate,  she said,

“I have high hopes for Jagtar and Labour in Watford. Following last June’s exceptional General Election result when Labour came within 2,092 votes of grabbing the seat from the Tories and with the Liberal Democrats a poor third, I have every confidence Labour is going to do well in Watford on 3 May.

“With the Liberal Democrat mayor retiring and her party just 7 per cent in the opinion polls, it’s clear that they are now very unpopular with the public. In Watford, Labour has a manifesto that would make your town an even better place to live with Jagtar as its mayor.

“A strong vote for Labour in May is a stepping stone towards getting rid of this incompetent Tory Government and ushering in Jeremy Corbyn to Downing Street.”

Jagtar Singh Dhindsa said,

“We were delighted to have Diane Abbot’s support. It gave us a great morale boost. We had a big turnout with some 50 members knocking on doors across north Watford. There was a great response in the doorstep. It really feels like something very special is going to happen on May 3 as the Liberal Democrats reign comes to an end.”
