On Sunday, November 9, with heads bowed, the Croxley community came together for a silence that spoke of the respect and honour for all of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.
Led by Croxley Green’s Royal British Legion and All Saints’ Church, the annual Remembrance Parade and wreath laying ceremony was once again hailed as a “deeply moving and unifying moment for the village”.
The parade brought together residents of all ages and was honoured by the attendance of Adam K. Ginder, Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, who joined local organisations, faith leaders, and community representatives in paying tribute.
Over 40 organisations participated in the wreath-laying ceremony, including representatives from the military, police, fire services, Sea Cadets, Scouts, Guides, Boys’ and Girls’ Brigades, local schools, and a wide range of community groups.
Bringing the community together, the service welcomed representatives from Churches Together, the Jewish community, and the Sikh community.
A particularly moving moment of the ceremony was a special poem reading by Neve Beard of Croxley Danes School, whose heartfelt contribution was “warmly received by the gathered crowd”.
Croxley Green Parish Council shared: “Sincere gratitude to everyone who supported this year’s event. In particular, special thanks go to Croxley Guild Cricket Club and Rickmansworth Cricket Club for their invaluable assistance in managing the road closures and ensuring the safe running of the parade.
“Croxley Green once again demonstrated the strength, respect, and unity that define the village, coming together to ensure the legacy of those who served is never forgotten.”
