Croxley residents fear the village could be subject to “urban sprawl”.
In December last year, Richborough submitted a planning application to Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) for up to 600 homes and a primary school on land to the north of Little Green Lane.
On Thursday, July 17, a preliminary report laid out the benefits of the proposal, including providing sustainable and active travel options, along with a new bus service and the creation of up to 930 jobs.
However, the report also explains that the site is part of open farmland and “protected green belt currently enjoyed by thousands of residents”.
The decision has been deferred to a future committee meeting for determination.
A Richborough spokesperson said: “Richborough continues to have productive conversations with representatives of both TRDC and Hertfordshire County Council ahead of the determination of the planning application for the site at Little Green Lane. Additionally, we are engaging with the Hertfordshire & West Essex Integrated Care Board and other local stakeholders. We look forward to continuing these discussions in advance of the Planning Committee hearing.”
