Deals to help students stay active

A leisure site manager for St Albans City and District Council is aiming to keep the city’s teens fit and healthy this summer.

With the loss of access to school sport clubs and sessions, holiday inactivity may become a real issue for some.

To help our school leavers stay active this summer, all 1Life leisure sites have a tantalising array of offers available.

1Life manages a number of leisure sites on behalf of St Albans City & District Council, including Cotlandswick Leisure Centre, Harpenden Leisure Centre, Batchwood Tennis & Sports Centre and Abbey View Golf & Track.

Working with the Sport & Health Development Team, the sites are aiming to help all school leavers stay active this summer by providing a number of offers to those aged 16-18 years.

All sites have offers on their gym membership deals for those of school leaver age, with reduced monthly costs, including a free month referral offer.

These allow students to access the gyms and suitable group exercise sessions across the sites.

All memberships taken out will also include further offers, reductions and free activities, varying across the sites.

Councillor Anthony Rowlands, the council’s portfolio holder for community, leisure and sport, said: “The school holidays offer teenagers a fantastic opportunity to take up a new sport or activity – or get better at one they already do.

“There is an excellent range of sports available at our leisure centres across the District this summer, all at a very reasonable cost.”
