‘DAY TO REMEMBER’: Croxley festival unites community in a standout event

Published on: 28th June 2025   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

“Community”, “unique”, and “kindness” are words that the residents of Croxley use to describe the village, and that’s exactly what was on show at the Croxley Revels on Saturday, June 28.

Established in 1920, the annual event transforms The Green into a colourful festival ground where organisations, businesses, and societies come together for a day of fun and celebration – and this year was certainly one to remember.

Every corner of The Green offered something special, with amazing stalls selling unique items, to an arena displaying a wealth of talent, and rides for all the thrill-seekers.

Each stall offered something new to discover – from jewellery, to crafts, to clothes, and of course there was plenty of cups of tea to be had.

Performers twirled, drums beat, and burgers were demolished, proving once again why the Revels remains a highlight of the Croxley calendar.

The My Local News teams swapped their desks for a stall and had an exciting day chatting to residents, finding more about local businesses, and sharing some of the important stories straight from the heart of the village.

Of course, they couldn’t resist trying a few games, winning some bubbles, and cooling off with an ice cream too!

The talent of the village shone as an eclectic line-up of acts performed to the masses. Sports and dance groups showed the talent of future superstars, with visitors even donning their dancing shoes to get involved.

In the space of an afternoon, residents were spoilt for choice with things to do and could stock up on flowers for the garden, take on an unrideable horse, and relax in the sun in a choice of pop-up cafés.

Children also had a blast with face painting, axe throwing, and classic fairground rides.

Popular guests included a stilt walker, Punch and Judy, and, yes, even bananas were seen running around.

As the afternoon went on, anticipation rose for the infamous Push Ball competition which saw all the Croxley Green primary schools fight for the title.

Speaking to CROXLEYnews, the organisers of Croxley Revels said: “Croxley Revels embodies the local community. You’ve got local schools, charities, and business, and it run locally. It’s been like that for decades.

“Everybody mucks in, there are so many people out here volunteering their time.

“It is lovely to see everybody coming out with smiles on faces and just having a good day catching up with friends, family and having fun.”

While many villages hold annual events, what stood out most was the unmistakable sense of pride, warmth, and togetherness that Croxley Revels inspires every year.
