A Rickmansworth Morris dancing group has donated £300 to a local charity that makes sailing accessible for all.
On Wednesday, December 11, the Phoenix Morris dancers performed at The Red Lion pub in Rickmansworth to an audience that included Phillip Gibbs, trustee of Colne Valley Special Sailors (CVSS).
The group interrupted their hops and flourishes to present Phillip with the £300 cheque.
Phillip said: “This is a welcome donation which will help us continue to give disabled people, young and old, a great sailing experience on Bury Lake in the Aquadrome.”
CVSS is run entirely by volunteers. They use specialised boats and equipment to provide opportunities for people with a wide array of disabilities and conditions, including autism, physical health conditions, sensory difficulties, amputees, stroke victims, and mental health conditions.
CVSS has a fleet of purpose-built sailing dinghies and paddling katacanoes – two canoes with a trampoline between them.
The Phoenix Morris dancers were “delighted” to support CVSS.
