CURTAIN UP: Long-running Northwood theatre company gets ready for Easter panto in 75th year

Published on: 30th March 2022   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

A long-standing theatre company is celebrating 75 years since its formation this year, starting with an unusually timed springtime pantomime.

The Argosy Players will be doing a performance of ‘Humpty Dumpty’ this Easter, taking place on Thursday, April 14, Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16, in what hopes to be another great play for the group.

They were founded back in 1947 when members of the Bishopsalt School Drama Society decided to strike out on their own, taking their name from those fictional sailors who also made the decision to go it alone, Jason and the Argonauts.

Giving local people across the borough an opportunity to train up their theatrical skills and enjoy the fun world of stagecraft. They produce several shows a year, perform a variety of genres and have even staged a live show named ‘The Mad Bess Express’ on the Ruislip Lido Railway in the past.

For anyone interested in joining the theatre troupe, feel free to contact info@argosyplayer.org.uk or member Phil Gossan on 07763 175017.

For those however interested in seeing the Easter pantomime, there will be a performance at 7:30pm on the Thursday, one at the same time on the Friday, and two on the Saturday timed at 2:30pm and 6:30pm.

Tickets will be £12.50 for adults and £10 for concessions (those aged under 18 and over 65). Discounts for charities, guides and brownie groups and ticket purchasing information can be found at www.argosyplayers.co.uk.
