Bovingdon Bowls Club (BBC) is gearing up for the 2024 season as the weather improves and will soon be hosting open days to attract new members.

Located on the village’s High Street, the club’s all-weather playing surface has allowed them to continue playing the sport throughout the winter months, with those leagues set to come to a close in mid-March.

With 57 club games planned, including friendlies, Watford & District Association League fixtures, Friday night league matches and the Dacorum Shield, BBC has a lot of games to offer.

There are also individual ladies fixtures planned, and for more senior men’s players, there are two teams in the Watford Vets League, who have 36 matches planned.

As well as that, there will be also be three new opponents for BBC to take on this year, namely Windsor, Redbourn and Woodstock, as well as a special bowls tour of Torremolinos in Spain in October.

The open days are being held from 10am on Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21, with anyone who wishes to join earlier than that advised to contact membership secretary Jennie Sylvester at bovingdonbowlsclub@hotmail.com
