Parmiter School’s Year 7B football team are through to the National Cup semi-final, after securing a win during the quarter-finals on Thursday, February 27.

The Year 7B football team at the Garston school played in the quarter-finals and beat Grey Court School on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

The team will now compete during the semi-final against the winners of Whitgift School from Croydon or Ivybridge Community College from Plymouth.

Mr Clark, head of Parmiter’s School Physical Education Department, said: “Yesterday’s game was a fantastic spectacle of school football.

“Having gone one goal down to a set piece, the boys battled with determination and heart to be leading 2-1 at half time.”

The eventful match then saw Grey Court scoring again, three saves from goalkeeper William Denning and some resolute defending.

The boys managed to hold on for penalties, where the game was settled.

It was 4-4 after the first five penalties each and it went to sudden death. The Grey Court player hit the woodwork and Tobi Biobaku slammed home the winning penalty.

Mr Clark continued: “The boys were over the moon with the win and thoroughly deserved to progress.

“They showed, great desire and a team work ethic that I was extremely proud of. I am really looking forward to the semi-final where I hope they can replicate the same attitude.”

The school team are due to face Longdean School at some stage this week.
