Thousands of pounds worth of stock was stolen from Londis in Croxley Green leaving the neighbourhood in shock.
At around 2 am on Wednesday, March 27, two offenders broke into the store on Baldwins Lane by smashing a glass window on the front door.
The thieves took an estimated £18,000 worth of goods, cigarettes, alcohol, stamps and cash from the till. They also broke the front metal shutter, ripped off a cigarette cabinet door and other damage to the shop inside too.
CCTV video released on YouTube captures the moments the thieves broke in, with one carrying a hammer. They brought a big sack with them to take as much goods as possible before fleeing.
They then got into a white Renault van that was parked in front of the shop and drove in the direction of Watford. The van has since been recovered.
One of the offenders is described as a white male, wearing a light coloured jacket with a hood, dark bottoms and gloves. The other offender is described as a white male, wearing jeans, a light coloured hoody, glasses, Nike trainers (possibly Air Maz 97s) and gloves. Both had their faces covered.
Any witnesses or anyone with information should call 101 quoting crime reference 41/28389/19.
Sharon Taylor, who set up a Go Fund Me page for the shop owner, said: “Yogi and his wife are shocked and upset. Please if you can make a donation however small to help these lovely people recoup some of their monetary loss and realise they are very much a valid part of our community and we all care.”
