Croxfest's first congaThe latest Croxfest Festival was dubbed “the best ever” by members of the community after an extremely successful fourth year. The event, which was held on September 6, was organised by chairman of the organising committee, Stephen Crabtree, and 16 others and Stephen told My Croxley News that he was delighted with how the day went. He said: “Croxfest was fantastic. It is a real community event and people had a fantastic day. It really was overwhelming how many people showed up to support this local event.” Croxfest started at midday and went all the way through to 8pm and up and coming bands from Hertfordshire entertained the packed crowds throughout the day and there were plenty of activities and catering for young and old. Stephen added that there was a bucket collection to raise money for the Air Cadets as well as the Croxley Green Parish Council’s two charities, the Peace Hospice and Sea Cadets. “We managed to raise about £2,400 from our bucket challenge for the three charities which is great and I would personally like to thank everyone who donated” said Stephen. Stephen also paid tribute to all the help from his own team and from everyone who contributed to another brilliant Croxfest. He said: “We had people say that this was the best Croxfest ever and that would not have been possible without all the volunteers and sponsors who help us out in the lead up to the day. “Also a special thanks to my team who have worked tirelessly for the past 10 months in the lead up to Croxfest to put it altogether. “And also a massive thanks to everyone who turned up in their droves and supported what is a great day. Croxley is lucky to have such an event.” Incredibly, bands have already enquired as to availability for the 2015 Croxfest so if anyone wants to sign please contact Stephen at croxfestcroxley@yahoo.co.uk.
