BURGLARY ARREST: Two arrested in connection with Watford burglary

Two people have been arrested in connection with a burglary in Watford last night.

Police were called at around 11.30pm yesterday, Monday, February 20, to reports that Sansetive Food Centre in Market Street had been broken in to.

Damage was caused to the rear entrance of the property in order to gain access, before a number of security cameras were also damaged.

An estimated £5,000 worth of cigarettes were stolen, along with approximately £300 in cash.

Following fast-time enquiries, a vehicle of interest was identified and subsequently stopped in the West Bromich area by West Midlands Police just after 2.30am.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of burglary. They remain in police custody at this time.

Chief Inspector for Watford Andy Wiseman said: “Thanks to the quick work of our intervention officers and CCTV operators, we were able to identify a vehicle of interest, which was later stopped in another force area, and make swift arrests in connection with this burglary within hours of it being reported.

“The stolen items were seized and will be returned to the premises. If you have any information about the burglary, or if you witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the vicinity of Market Street between 11pm and 12am, please get in touch.”
