A woman from Watford who was diagnosed with cancer last May has published a poetry book to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and thank the nurses who helped her.
Stacey Wrighton, of Swiss Avenue, threw herself into creative writing and poetry as she recovered from a hysterectomy last year as a way of raising money and has made over £612 for Macmillan so far.
She said: “I joined a creative writing group for the u3a in Rickmansworth after my operation last year. Writing was something to plough myself into afterwards and I have written over 160 poems.
“I wanted to do something to say thank you to the nurses, I was dealt with so swiftly and kindly. Macmillan is a magnificent charity who does a fantastic job in the middle.”
The poetry collection features a range of subjects with a mixture of light-hearted and more serious themes from summer holidays, Christmas, childhood, Halloween, the dentist and animals running away from the zoo.
You can purchase the poetry book for £7.99 from staceywrighton.com with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support.
