A driver recently drove onto the pitch at Kings Langley Cricket Club and left tyre marks across the grass.
At around 2.23pm on Wednesday, February 12, the driver of a Subaru 4×4 mounted the curb beside The Common, did one loop of the cricket pitch and “the drove off at speed towards Chipperfield”.
According to the club, there are reports of the same vehicle driving dangerously in Sarratt and Gerrards Cross on the same afternoon.
The cricket club have already started the necessary repair work.
A spokesperson for the club said: “The driver caused several hundreds of pounds’ worth of damage to the cricket pitch and had little regard for other people’s safety – if they had performed the same trick an hour or so later, the Common would have been full of children having finished school.
“The cost of volunteer time, grass seed and diesel will be very high… and it was all caused by one [person] having 30 seconds of ‘fun’.”
