COOL KIDS: Stanmore schoolchildren skip 100 times a day to raise money for charity

Published on: 14th February 2023   |   By: Jacob Collick   |   Category: Uncategorized

A group of Stanmore children who call themselves the Cool Kids have raised more than £1,300 for Cancer Research UK after setting out on a mission to skip 100 times a day throughout February.

The children, who all live on the same street, range in age between five and 11 years old and are all close friends.

One of the children’s mums, Jackie Patel, told STANMOREnews that the family fundraises several times a year, and they have decided to do the Race for Life in June as well.

The skipping challenge has helped the children to build up their fitness and have fun together while also raising money for a great cause.

Jackie said: “We didn’t expect to ever raise this amount of money. It’s absolutely amazing and we’re all positively shocked. People clearly feel strongly about Cancer Research UK and are also keen to support our wonderful kids.

“The Sunday before the challenge started, they got their skipping ropes and started practicing. Some of them already knew how to skip, but the majority of them learnt how to skip in the days that led up to the challenge, which I think is a remarkable achievement.”

Josh, one of the Cool Kids, said: “One of things I love the most about this challenge is being able to see my friends every day and collaborate to raise money for an important charity.”
