20th ANNIVERSARY: Northwood College team kickstart fundraising for Moor Park Run

Published on: 8th August 2021   |   By: Holly Bullen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A group of parents and teachers from Northwood are on track to raise more than £10,000 as part of the 20th anniversary of the Moor Park Run.

The Northwood College for Girls team (Team NWC) will be taking on the 10K run in the grounds of Merchant Taylors’ School on Sunday, September 19.

They have been busy fundraising and training for the event with all funds raised donated to Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC).

NWC parent, Arun Koshal said the parents have been getting together to train and socialise in preparation for the event.

He said: “Together we are working hard to generate vital donations that will help fund extra medical equipment, support services, NHS staff training, patient-area refurbishments and cutting-edge research projects. Over £3,000 was raised consecutively over the past couple of years by the NWC community, and our aim is to exceed this figure next month.

“You will find us getting together in the evenings to run local routes and a Sunday morning we can often be found training at the local running track. It’s a great way to exercise and socialise at the same time!”

Mrs Rebecca Brown, academic deputy head of NWC and incoming head, said the Moor Park Run is a way to bring the school community whilst raising money for a good cause.

She said: “We are delighted by the response that our NWC Team has received this year from parents, pupils and staff alike. NWC is a school with a fantastic sense of community, something which we all value and appreciate.

“Our students always think about the needs of others and actively seek ways to raise money, and awareness, to support important causes; we are hugely proud of the effort they put in to make a positive difference.”
