A Northwood school pupil jetted to Europe recently to represent the nation in the 2021 Acrobatic Gymnastics European Championships.
Chiara Linden, 13, who is a pupil at St Helen’s School, competed alongside her partner Megan in the competition which was held in Pesaro, Italy.
After coming third in the balance qualifications, Chiara and Megan went on to come sixth overall in the finals.
Chiara’s mum, Karen Linden, spoke to NorthwoodNews, about her six-days-a-week training schedule at Heathrow Gymnastics Club.
She said: “Chiara was put into a squad for acrobatic gymnastics and we haven’t looked back since then.
“She’s very modest, but was she was really excited to selected and to be able to represent Team GB.
“She is very determined and is currently in a trio and hoping to trial again for the world championships.”
A spokesperson for St Helen’s said: “We are literally head over heels in awe of Chiara’s recent success at the 2021 Acrobatic Gymnastics European Championships.
“This is an incredible achievement – congratulations Chiara and Megan on a fantastic competition!”
