COMMUNITY SPIRIT: Jodie wants you to help keep Chalfont St Peter tidy

Published on: 6th September 2019   |   By: Tim Green   |   Category: Uncategorized

A woman who is keen to help keep Chalfont St Peter tidy arranged a litter pick which was held last month.

Jodie Burridge, 24, posted the idea on Facebook group Chalfont St Peter Connected and the event was held on August 31.

Jodie explained why she felt so passionate about the event.

She commented: “I was just thinking it would be a good idea to get a Chalfont litter pick organised soon to make sure it’s getting done regularly and help keep our village tidy. It makes the village look much tidier and a friendly place to be

“Chalfont St Peter is such a beautiful place but walking round places like the Community Centre, Common and the high street there’s a lot of litter. When I walk around, I try to pick up everything I have seen We need to convince people that dropping litter is bad in the first place.

“As well as the village centre, we need to protect the River Misbourne. Litter thrown in the river will end up in the sea and when we are trying to do so much to stop climate change, things like this are important. Small steps end up having quite a big impact.”

Jodie’s now hoping to have a litter pick once every three months.

Anyone interested in getting involved should email jodie@theburridges.co.uk or check the Chalfont St Peter Connected Group on Facebook for more information.
