Two members of staff from a primary school in Mill End have commended a nine-year-old pupil on her bravery and resilience in the face of unimaginable hardship.
Nine-year-old Grace Mackin was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour in June 2022. However, according to St Peter’s Church of England Primary School staff members Julie Mansi and Janice O’Donovan: “Grace has had the most positive mindset from the very onset of her diagnosis.”
Julie said: “Even on the days when treatment is difficult, Grace comes to school with a smile.”
In addition to receiving her life-changing diagnosis two-and-a-half years ago, Grace has had to deal with the more recent loss of her father.
Yet according to Grace’s mother, Sarah Wiggins: “You’d never know what Grace has been through from her attitude.”
Grace has now finished a course of chemotherapy and was recently invited to ring the end-of-treatment bell at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
