COME TOGETHER: Synagogue does whistle-stop tour of Bushey with Menorah Mobile

Bushey Synagogue was determined not to let the pandemic stop the community celebration of Chanukah this year and pulled out all the stops so its members could come together in a COVID-safe environment.

Following two hugely successful socially-distanced candle-lightings in the Synagogue car park on Saturday, December 13, which were attended by 300 people overall, Rabbi Feldman and Rabbi Kett were determined to spread the joy even further and reach even more people.

They did this with the inaugural Bushey Menorah Mobile Tour, visiting 20 stops in two nights to ensure they completed their road trip of Bushey and Stanmore before the Tier 3 restrictions came in and gave out almost 1,000 doughnuts to those who had gathered to watch the lighting.

Rabbi Feldman said: “Speaking from the heart, every single smile, every warmed spirit every happy Bushey resident, made the effort worthwhile.”

Bushey United Synagogue member Alison Rubinstein, who came to one of the stops, said: “The Menorah Mobile was a wonderful idea and brought happiness to so many people in difficult times. There was a real sense of community togetherness which is so important at the moment.”
