COFFIN CONFUSION:  Strange item found at town skip

Published on: 27th September 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

A couple visiting a Rickmansworth skip were startled by an unusual item that had been left with the rest of the rubbish.

When Jenny Murphy and her partner visited a recycling area near Riverside Drive, Rickmansworth on Saturday, August 31, they were bizarrely greeted by a large coffin.

Jenny told RickyNews: “We didn’t really have a clue what to think. We were just laughing to be honest. It wasn’t particularly eerie, it was just surprising.

“We spotted it with another couple who were there and we were laughing and trying to figure out why it was there. We saw breathing holes on the top of it so we realised quite quickly that it probably wasn’t a genuine coffin.

“It was just funny to see it in a skip of all places.”

Jenny posted the featured photograph on a Facebook group for Rickmansworth and surrounding areas, which was met with many residents speculating where it would’ve come from.

In the end, the mystery was solved – it was the prop of a local amateur drama group which had been kept in a Rickmansworth resident’s home for a number of years.

If the coffin’s still there, perhaps one of our readers could make a Halloween prop out of it.
